L’Ecole № 41 Chenin Blanc Featured in Food & Wine

Discover Why This Vibrant White Wine Is Turning Heads

At L’Ecole № 41, we’ve always believed in the elegance and versatility of Chenin Blanc – and now, the wine world is catching on. Our Chenin Blanc was recently featured in Food & Wine’s article, “It’s Time to Swap Your Chardonnay for a Chenin Blanc”, which highlights the grape’s growing popularity and dynamic range.

Why Choose Chenin Blanc?

Chenin Blanc is one of the most adaptable white grape varieties, capable of producing wines that range from crisp and dry to rich and textured. As Food & Wine notes:

“Chenin Blanc is often overshadowed by its more famous white-grape counterparts… but the best ones shine in greatness.”

Our Signature Style

L’Ecole № 41’s Chenin Blanc is a dry, expressive wine with bright acidity and layered aromatics. You’ll find notes of Asian pear, honeysuckle, and citrus blossom on the nose, followed by flavors of lemon curd, jasmine, and a hint of flint on the palate. The finish is crisp, clean, and mouthwatering.

A Legacy of Excellence

Inspired by the Vouvray wines of France’s Loire Valley, crafted from the Chenin Blanc grape, our Co-Founder and first Winemaker, Jean Ferguson, deeply admired these wines and sought to create her own version. For this reason, we’ve been crafting Chenin Blanc since 1987, sourcing fruit from some of the oldest vines in Washington’s Yakima Valley. These vineyards offer the perfect conditions for growing Chenin Blanc – warm days, cool nights, and well-drained soils that preserve the grape’s natural acidity and complexity. As Food & Wine notes:

“In the U.S., Washington State has worked with the grape for more than 75 years, though plantings have diminished significantly over the last few decades. A stalwart? L’Ecole Nº 41, which has produced its old-vine, snappy and aromatic unoaked Chenin Blanc since 1987.”

Perfect Pairings

Our Chenin Blanc is a natural match for a wide variety of dishes, including:

    • Grilled seafood
    • Creamy pastas
    • Spicy Asian cuisine
    • Fresh summer salads

Its vibrant acidity and fruit-forward profile make it a go-to wine for any occasion.
